Symposium Program

Symposiums are a form of discussion between a number of experts in a field and are led by a moderator. The Palm Springs Photo Festival presents an important symposium for all attendees each day. We organize the programs to include the important and influential panelists from throughout the country to come together and discuss issues of great interest / importance to emerging and professional photographers. All Attendees are invited to attend these important discussions each day. All Symposiums are FREE to festival attendees and will be held at the spectacular PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM, 101 Museum Drive, in the Annenberg Theater, a short walk from Korakia. Presentations will be daily from 5:00-6:30pm.

Join a panel of prominent photography collectors in a broad discussion that will attempt to demystify the photography collector’s perspective, methods, concerns and practices for the audience of emerging and professional photographers.

Photo District News presents: PDN’s EMERGING 30.Transitions: Strategies for the Young Working Photographer. Photographers featured in the 2009 PDN’s 30 issue will discuss getting started in the photography industry. The photographers will give specifics on how they got their first jobs and structured (and more importantly, paid for) their first promotional efforts. They will discuss what they learned in school and what they wish they’d been taught as well as share career advice you won’t hear anywhere else. This Symposium will be moderated by Holly Hughes, Editor of Photo District News. Andy Katz, Sony Artisan of Imagery will join the panel which will include Emerging 30 photographers Lauren Dukoff, Alex Prager and Jennifer Rocholl.
